What a month March turned out to be!
I hardly dare mention spring this time. I did that in my March blog and look what happened!
We had all sorts of weather, all the variations thrown at us. From a few sunny days to the snow from "Beast from the East". The whole kitchen sink in effect!
People were pleasantly surprised that we stayed open throughout. But that is just the way the way we do things here: learning and learners come first.
We don’t build barriers. We remove and even jump over them. Remember our fourth value: "Can do/Will do!”
One thing that has been said to me this month is how much care, empathy and passion Haringey Sixth Form College has, so I started to reflect on why people say this.
The first thing to say is that we’re interested in you in all our young people. We take time here with all our learners.
The same will be said of our new prospective students. We want to know about your life, your background, what you’ve got to say, how you feel about things, what you need, what you want, where you’ve been and where you’d like to go.
For us, class teaching means more than just teaching in the class. It means teaching, and treating every student as an individual with care, empathy and compassion.
It is also now a key time to really focus on achievement, success and, of course, value number one: the overarching aim to achieve excellence in everything we do.
