Featured News / 19 December
Our last week at #TeamHaringey6 before we breakup for the Christmas holidays but we have not slowed down.
We started the week with IntoUniversity’s Independent Learning team visiting the college to deliver an engaging workshop for our A1 students. The session focused on developing the skills needed for successful independent learning at university level.
Presenters Tara and Marcus reported that students:
-
Gained an understanding of independent learning techniques and how these apply to university study
-
Independently researched university courses they are interested in pursuing
-
Actively asked questions about university life and progression routes
The workshop provided valuable insight into higher education and encouraged students to take greater ownership of their learning and future aspirations.

Ten learners were selected to take part in a 10-week mentoring programme designed to inspire children and young people to develop the personal skills and positive attitudes needed to succeed in life. Throughout the programme, learners worked on building confidence, resilience and self-belief, while developing a clearer understanding of their future goals.
To celebrate the successful completion of the programme, learners were invited to attend a Premier League Inspires Collapsed Curriculum Day at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The day provided an exciting opportunity to take part in a range of engaging and educational workshops.
The first session, Healthy Body, Healthy Mind, focused on wellbeing. Learners were introduced to meditation techniques and explored practical ways to manage stress and support positive mental health.
The second session was a Careers Workshop, where learners gained valuable insight into the wide range of career options available after education. They also developed confidence in pursuing a career of their choice and learned how salaries and career progression work.
The day concluded with a guided stadium tour, giving learners the chance to explore one of the best football stadiums in the world and experience a professional sporting environment first-hand.
Overall, learners had a busy and productive day, and it was a fantastic way to end the mentoring programme. The experience left learners feeling motivated, inspired and more confident about their future aspirations.

To end the week on a high, we celebrated Christmas Pyjama Day — our festive spin on the traditional Christmas Jumper Day. Both students and staff embraced the fun by coming in their pyjamas or onesies, all in support of Children in Need. It was a fantastic day filled with festive spirit and generosity, and the perfect way to close the week as we head into the Christmas break.

Merry #H6mas from #TeamHaringey6
