At #H6, we are committed to creating an environment where students thrive academically, socially and personally. This week has been a fantastic example of how our curriculum and enrichment programme continue to broaden students’ horizons, inspire ambition and strengthen our positive college community.

Broadening Horizons Through Real-World Experiences

As part of our ongoing commitment to personal development and careers education, we welcomed representatives from the Army to H6 for an engaging and interactive careers event. Students had the opportunity to explore a wide range of career pathways available within the Army, gaining valuable insight into routes beyond university education.

The visiting teams delivered informative sessions about the recruitment process, training opportunities and the many specialist roles available within the Armed Forces. Students were able to speak directly with recruitment officers and engagement teams, ask questions and learn about transferable skills including leadership, teamwork and resilience.

The event also featured capability stands and military vehicles, creating a hands-on and memorable experience for our learners. Students demonstrated excellent engagement throughout the sessions, showing curiosity, maturity and enthusiasm as they explored future opportunities available to them after leaving H6.

Experiences such as these are an important part of our wider enrichment programme, helping students develop cultural capital, confidence and informed aspirations for their futures.

Celebrating Student Achievement

We are incredibly proud to celebrate several of our students who received prestigious Jack Petchey Awards in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the H6 community.

The awards celebrate students who demonstrate commitment, leadership, positivity and dedication within college life. As part of their reward, students were given the opportunity to decide how their award funding would benefit their peers and subject areas.

Some students chose to purchase new equipment to support learning within their departments, while others organised memorable experiences for their classmates, including a theme park trip and celebratory meals together.

These decisions reflect the kindness, leadership and community spirit that we encourage across H6. It has been wonderful to see students using their achievements to positively impact those around them — truly #Amazing!

Inspiring Curiosity in Science

To end the week on a high, we were delighted to welcome a very special new addition to #TeamHaringey6!

Meet Billy, who hatched this week in our Science Department incubator.

Students and staff alike have been excited to observe the hatching process first-hand, creating a unique opportunity to support learning beyond the classroom. Activities such as this help foster curiosity, responsibility and engagement with science in a practical and meaningful way.

We are looking forward to watching Billy grow over the coming weeks and continuing to inspire students through hands-on learning experiences.

Building a Positive Learning Culture

At H6, we remain ambitious for all of our learners. Through meaningful enrichment opportunities, careers education, celebration of achievement and engaging curriculum experiences, we continue to support students in becoming confident, well-rounded and aspirational young people.

The enthusiasm, participation and positive attitudes shown by students throughout the week reflect the strong learning culture we are proud to build together as a college community. We really are #MoreThanACollege so it never hurts to say it again!
