A Flying Start to 2026 at #H6 – Living the #H6Experience

So far into January 2026, leading into February half term, #TeamHaringey6 students and staff have been buzzing with energy, ambition and excitement as we continue to build and enrich the #H6Experience.

At #H6 this half term has been a powerful reflection of our commitment to excellence across them all.

We began the year by strengthening our community partnerships and raising aspirations across the borough. Our team attended Year 11 Parents’ Evening at Mulberry Academy Woodside, offering clear, impartial post-16 advice and guidance to students and families. We also took part in the Careers Fair at Alexandra Park School, where our #H6Ambassador — currently in her final year — shared first-hand insight into college life, study expectations and progression opportunities.

Hearing directly from a student who has lived the #H6Experience provided prospective learners with authentic guidance, inspiration and reassurance about their next steps.

Media Students Meet Industry Excellence

Our Level 3 Year 2 Media students had an exceptional opportunity to meet, photograph and interview Shingi Mararike, North of England Correspondent at Sky News as he attended St Francis de Sales school as he was presenting Tottenham University children with their diaries and certificates.

Shingi, who was part of a team nominated for a Royal Television Award for reporting on the Southport attacks, shared invaluable insights into journalism, resilience, ethics and storytelling. Students engaged in professional-level questioning, developing confidence, industry awareness and the cultural capital required to succeed in competitive creative sectors.

Holocaust Memorial Day 2026 – Learning Through Lived Experience

As part of Holocaust Memorial Day 2026, our Level 3 Uniformed Protective Services students were invited to attend Haringey’s commemorative event at the iconic Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Students met guest speaker Emily Cass, who shared the powerful story of her mother’s Holocaust experience. This linked directly to Unit 1: Citizenship & Diversity, enabling learners to deepen their understanding of tolerance, equality and social responsibility.

The opportunity to ask questions and engage in dialogue reinforced critical thinking, empathy and the importance of remembering history — a vital aspect of personal development and responsible citizenship.

A weekend to remember…

Before half term, 11 of our students took part in a residential work experience opportunity organised by Streetz Ahead at Hindleap Warren Activity Centre.

Working with primary and secondary pupils, our learners demonstrated leadership, teamwork and maturity. Phone-free, muddy and fully immersed in the experience, they returned with enhanced resilience, communication skills and confidence.

Student reflections speak volumes:

“Overall the trip was enjoyable and provided me with great experience opportunity, would do again.” – Mustafa Teran

“My experience at Hindleap Warren Activity Centre was fantastic and truly memorable… inspiring and enjoyable.” – Mert Ali Tasyurdu

“I really think this has made my leadership skills, teamwork skills and communication skills by far… Looking forward to more trips and experiences like this in the future.” – Faith Kitara

The positivity, gratitude and reflective nature of these comments highlight the respectful, aspirational culture we continue to nurture at #H6.

Our curriculum is designed with clear intent: to equip learners with knowledge, skills, professional behaviours and progression pathways that lead to meaningful destinations.

This half term’s experiences demonstrate curriculum impact in action:

  • Media students applying literacy, questioning and analytical skills in professional interviews
  • Uniformed Protective Services students linking live civic events to Citizenship & Diversity units
  • Work experience reinforcing transferable skills embedded across programmes

In celebration of National Apprenticeship Week, we organised and delivered a large-scale Apprenticeship & LinkedIn presentation in our Lecture Theatre on 10th February.

With over 120 students attending from Media, Business, ICT, Sport and UPS, the session explored:

  • Types and levels of apprenticeships
  • Where and how to apply
  • Application support
  • The importance of building a professional LinkedIn profile

This level of engagement reflects our strong culture of participation and ambition.

From community outreach events and industry partnerships to residential trips and large-scale career development sessions, our leadership ensures:

  • High aspirations for every learner
  • Strong employer and community links
  • A culture of enrichment and inclusion
  • Continuous innovation to enhance the #H6Experience

The first half term of 2026 has already demonstrated our ambition — not just to educate, but to inspire.

As we move into the half term break, we encourage everyone to reflect, recharge and return ready for the next stage of the journey — full of life, energy and determination to embrace new challenges.

Because at #TeamHaringey6, we are proud to say we are #MoreThanACollege.
