This week at #H6 has been full of achievement! Our students have been representing the college in a variety of external activities — and their hard work paid off with multiple awards. We’re incredibly #H6proud of their success.

Starting with...

#TeamHaringey6 were invited to attend the Haringey Community Showcase & Awards among organisations there; there was the Markfield Trust, an inclusive community hub in Haringey representing Markfield Trust was our current Level 2 Public Services student, Lisa, who is also an active member of the organisation. In the video, Lisa shared heartfelt reasons why Markfield Trust deserved to win—highlighting its supportive community, accessible services, and the positive impact it has on young people like herself.

When the Markfield team arrived at the ceremony, they were simply honoured to be shortlisted. But to their surprise and delight, they were announced as the winners of the Children’s and Young People Award. The achievement came as an unexpected but deeply deserved recognition of their dedicated work within the community.

Lisa’s involvement in this success story makes the win even more meaningful for our college. We are incredibly proud of her contribution to the Markfield Trust and her embodiment of the values we promote within the Public Services programme.

This award not only celebrates Markfield Trust’s commitment to inclusion but also shines a spotlight on the power of young people’s voices in shaping positive community change.

Our Level 3 Year 1 and Level 3 Year 2 ICT students recently attended an exciting Robotics Workshop at London Metropolitan University’s School of Computing and Digital Media. The trip offered a unique, hands-on learning experience that introduced learners to real-world robotics, programming, and engineering.

Throughout the workshop, students designed and built their own robots using Arduino microcontrollers and various electronic components. After assembling and programming their robots, the groups competed in friendly challenges against other participating students—putting their technical and teamwork skills to the test.

The Robotics Workshop was designed to:

  • Introduce students to robotics, electronics, and programming.

  • Provide hands-on experience with C programming, Arduino microcontrollers, Bluetooth communication, and UX/UI design.

  • Encourage teamwork, innovation, and problem-solving.

  • Offer a fun and competitive environment for demonstrating technical skills.

  • Spark interest in technology, robotics, and engineering among college learners.

  • Support beginners and intermediate students in expanding their knowledge of programming, electronics, and robotics.

By the end of the workshop, students had:

  • Strengthened their teamwork, problem-solving, and project management abilities.

  • Gained practical experience in robot design, assembly, and coding.

  • Increased confidence in applying technical concepts to real-world tasks.

  • Developed a deeper understanding of emerging technologies and their applications.

We also had our Learning for Life SEND students selling handmade Christmas cards at lunchtime in the college. Their creativity and hard work shone through each card, and we are, as always, #H6Proud of them and all of our students
