Futures and Careers
At Haringey Sixth Form College, Futures and Careers provision is embedded alongside our curriculum to ensure students actively plan their next steps while studying with us. We support students throughout their journey, helping them explore their options and prepare confidently for life beyond H6.
All students have access to a wide range of opportunities, including work experience, labour market information, volunteering, and activities designed to develop key employability skills. Through tailored guidance, workshops, and talks from external organisations, students gain the knowledge and exposure needed to make informed decisions about their future.
We work in partnership with a number of organisations to enhance student progression. These include Into University, supporting academic growth and aspiration; Construction Youth Trust, helping students build confidence and employability skills; and Haringey Council, which provides targeted support for students at risk of becoming NEET through initiatives such as Start Something Major workshops and CEIAG support.
Students also have the opportunity to take part in three-week international work placements through the Turing Scheme, allowing them to broaden their horizons, gain valuable work experience, and develop cultural awareness and confidence.
Our Careers programme is designed to meet all Gatsby Benchmarks, ensuring every student has access to high-quality careers education, guidance, and meaningful experiences.
We are committed to equipping our students with the confidence, skills, and experience they need to progress successfully into Higher Education, apprenticeships, employment, or further training.
How we embed Careers into the Curriculum
All our students have access to a Futures & Careers Pathway bespoke to their course of study. The pathways outline the planned activities, workshops and interventions which take place throughout the students’ course of study. The pathways are implemented into our PPD programmes and all students have a copy in their PPD books and folders, allowing them to re-visit every so often and assess the impact of each activity using their checklist and their reflections on Unifrog.
