#TeamHaringey6 students from Sport and Uniformed Protective Services visited the Garrick Theatre to watch For Black Boys who have considered suicide when the hue gets too heavy - the clue is in the title however For Black Boys is a joyful fantasy and brutal reality: a world of music, movement, storytelling and verse – where six men clash and connect in a desperate bid for survival.

This was an opportunity for our learners to explore Arts and Culture to immerse themselves into the stories of a group of black boys which in turn addressed their individual trials and tribulations relating to issues such as racism, racial discrimination and stereotypes as well as violence, toxic relationships, sexuality and different forms of trauma from terminal illness to sexual abuse. During the play our learners were hyper focused on the story lines and shared some laughter and shared some tears.

The thoughts and feelings our learners shared feelings after watching For Black Boys were feeling surrounding being heard and seen. Our learners gave the cast a standing ovation and one learner even said this play should be shown to all students in all schools and colleges across London and the UK as they could relate to the issues and themes in the show.

Outstanding show and thank you to our outstanding learners for approaching this experience with the respect and maturity it deserved. #H6Experience #MoreThanACollege
