Haringey 6 Football Borehamwood FC v Haringey 6
The Haringey 6 team travelled to Borehamwood for what was expected to be a very challenging game. And so it proved.
Starting the game without three first choice central defenders, Fabio Teixeira, Kheenan Newman and Omar El Setti meant Ben Forson started the game at centre half, and it was Ben Forson who led the team well from central defence. At left back, Luca Thomas performed strongly, with Klein Luyindula playing at right back against his old college. In Midfield Jess Yanga showed quality on the ball and linked well with Sinhani Quade who played despite an injury he had picked up in a previous game.
After a promising opening spell, Borehamwood scored when Owen Locke was unable to hold a long shot. The 2nd goal came soon after when Owen failed to stop a shot he would normally stop. In Owen’s defence, he made two excellent stops in the first half, and then many more in the 2nd half to make amends for his error.
When Borehamwood made it 3-0 after 30 minutes, double figures seemed possible, but to their credit Haringey 6 didn’t give up, getting into the game in the closing minutes of the first half. Borehamwood showed excellent quality, perhaps not in fancy flicks but in consistency of performing the basics and playing with intelligence, and two further goals completed the score line. It could have been more, but some wasteful finishing and a couple of good stops from Owen kept the score down. Haringey 6 had the occasional breakaway but were unable to score. Thank you to Borehamwood for their excellent hospitality on the day.
