Haringey Basketball Academy vs Ipswich Copleston
Haringey battled to the end but it was not enough to overcome the the EABL side, Ipswich and there big man as the game finished 83-65.
Both teams came out strong, scoring quick lay ups for the two sides going into the first 3 minutes of play. Ipswich big man took control of his team going on a run ending the first quarter of play with Ipswich in the lead.
The dynamic duo of Taiwo Badmus and Ayo Awojobi helped Haringey close a gap during the second with fast break basketball and quick dish offs to forwards Jorghell Sossominou, Alasan Thomas and Josh Robinson creating good looks at the basket. This lead to Ipswich switching from a man to a full court press which in tale HAringey found hard to break leading to a few turn overs and putting Ipswich lead up again.
Haringey fought hard closing the gap to within 5 points three different times up the stretch including the beginning of the fourth quarter, when haringey hit four back to back 3’s from Ayo, Taiwo and Josh. Taiwo injured his hand fighting for the rebound which saw the captain take a seat in the remaining 5 minutes of play. Looking to close the gap further Haringey continued to fire good looks from beyond the arc, resulting in grabbed rebounds for Ipswich big who passed the ball to their guard number 4 who scored 10 of their fourth quarter points resulting in a bigger lead at the end of the game.
Coach Alex at Haringey believes that both the he and the team are learning on this journey together. The team performed at times and executed what was asked and at other times fell short of execution. This can all be worked on and you will see greatnes from Haringey 6th form in the near future.
