HBA vs Gateway College

Haringey Sixers faced Gateway College in their last home game of the season which ended in an 84-72 loss.

The 1st quarter of the game was tight between both Gateway and Haringey with the home team trailing by 1 point to Gateways 19 points, both teams performed evenly throughout, leading up to half time as there was still only a 1-point lead by the away team with 31 points.

Gateway made a bigger stretch from the home team as the sixers trailed by 10 points in the 3rd quarter, after which Haringey played catch up the rest of the game.

Gateways success was aided by two top scorers achieving 30 points with Birchenough (15) and Mawomo (11) performing strong followed by Birchenough’s 10 rebounds and Mawomo’s 5 assists.

Despite Haringey’s loss Taiwo Badmus managed to net 30 points and 9 rebounds closely followed by Ayo Awajobi with 14 points.

Coach Alex DuCasse had this to say: “We are definitely disappointed with the loss, the other team performed well, the boys will just have to work harder to perform our best in the last game.”

Haringey Sixers go on to play Cohenel away on the 21st of February with Gateway facing County Upper school.
