ABL Game 1 St Bonaventure vs Haringey Sixers

Haringey Sixers were stepping up to the ABL as AoC London Division 1 Men’s Champions. Their first test was against a feisty St Bons team who have great chemistry.

St Bons came out shooting the lights out in the first half and were up 44-35. The third quarter was much of the same with St Bons increasing their lead to 18 at one point.

Haringey exploded in the fourth quarter to take the lead 65-61 with 18 seconds remaining. St Bons hit a three then the sixers turned it over on the inbounds, which then lead to a foul and two shots for St Bons. The young St Bons player who is in year 11 missed two clutch free throws. To give Haringey Sixers a nail biting victory in their first ABL game.

Coach Perry Lawson said ‘We showed a lot of character in this game to come back from such a big deficit. To regain the lead at a very crucial time in the game. It would have been a tough loss for them to swallow knowing they had two shots to win it. But hey that’s the beauty of basketball and that’s why we love this game.’
