The Results - Christmas Charity Week
As our Charity week and end of term came to an end, we ended it on such a high! The amount of donations that our students and staff gave for to the Haringey Foodbank was incredible – we had to deliver in a minibus! Our ambassadors were Leslie Smith, Cameron Morris, Rennay Stewart-Walker, Kameron Matthews, Ndewedo Newbury and Kosha Patel.
After we had unloaded our unexpectedly large delivery, Dalwarin Babu OBE who was assisting at the Selby Centre, kindly asked if the students could help to transfer donations from inside the building to the containers. This was a huge task due to the amount of donations received. Our students were more than happy to help! They worked non-stop for over an hour, without any complaints, smiling throughout. They worked well as a team and are great ambassadors for the college.
Our students found it rewarding and would like to do something similar again, so in May 2019 we will be doing another Foodbank promotion as the staff at the food bank told us that they receive a large amount of donations at this time of year but the rest of the year is quiet especially May.
Russ Lawrance, Principal said “I am completely over the moon with these amazing students and the leadership shown by our staff, Franck Batimba and Sarah Hanna who organised this project and motivated the students to do their part - great teamwork. Simply brilliant, superlatives don’t do it justice.”
