#TeamHaringey6 - Loughborough Trip

On the weekend, 12 students from #TeamHaringey6 visited Loughborough University with Haringey based sports club Estudiantes. Loughborough is widely regarded as the best sports university in the world.

The students, received a tour of the campus and incredible sports facilities, before playing in a futsal match against the International Futsal Academy based at Loughborough University.

The students who had recently beaten Genesis, one of London's top senior teams, knew it would be a tough challenge as Loughborough are among the top 3 senior futsal teams in England, and so it proved.

After a very promising first half where the students matched their opponents for long periods, Loughborough showed their CLASS, PHYSCIALITY, and TACTICAL QUALITY in the 2nd half to run out 7-0 winners.

Despite this some of the students, most notably, Owen Locke, Samuel Preko , Isam Belmoudden, Haji Juma and Omar El Setti put in a very impressive performance, showing a TREMENDOUS attitude and good technical level.

Fabio Teixeira and Tenzin Dhongak, former students from #H6 who are now studying for their degrees at Loughborough, both played and scored in the game for Loughborough, but showed wonderful humility and respect for their former-team mates after the game, when they spoke about how much they are enjoying being part of the International Futsal Academy.

Following this, the students made the short trip to the Loughborough football stadium where they played on an outstanding state of the art 3G football pitch. Facing Loughborough 2nd team was always going to be a difficult challenge. As in futsal, The Loughborough football team is considered the best team in Britain, and their team included Alex Brookes Bent who was included in a UEFA Europa League squad earlier this year.

The students performed excellently, showing great discipline to hold their shape, and trying to counter attack as much as possible through Djibril Diallo, one of their best performers on the day. Despite an eventual scoreline of 0-4, all of the students performed well, most notably captain Samuel Preko.

Adbullah Ghanim, Omar El Setti and Isam Belmoudden were particularly outstanding at the back. Owen Locke, who is now consistently performing BRILLIANTLY in futsal, showed his talent is not limited to futsal, making a number of outstanding saves to limit the score.

In all #TeamHarigey6 showed a BRILLIANT ATTITUDE on the day and should be congratulated for their performances against such outstanding opposition.

The trip was used to encourage students to believe they can access world class universities if they continue to show a great attitude to their studies.  Each of the students were selected for Estudiantes as a result of their attendance and attitude in their study program at Haringey 6th Form College.

Our CEO Russ Lawrance adds the following:
