Russell Group and Oxbridge Forum Launch for First Years

Haringey Sixth Form’s programme for high-achieving students, the Russell Group & Oxbridge Forum, hosted its introductory event for the new cohort recently with over 50 AS and BTEC Level 3 Year 1 students attending, having been selected on their GCSE performance and academic potential.

One of the only rooms big enough for such a number of talented students was the Bistro, where the students met the dedicated Russell Group & Oxbridge team, heard H6FC staff relate their own experiences of attending prestigious universities, and found out about all of the opportunities available to them over the year.

There was a real buzz in the air as the students talked about the various access programmes and spring schools they were going to apply to, for degree courses as diverse as engineering, midwifery, law and psychology.

Oliwia, who would like to study psychology at Newcastle University, says “it was really informative and provided us with lots of opportunities for enhancing our university applications and personal statements”. Future English Literature student Ozge said “it opened up a lot of doors for me that I would not have realised were possible before the Russell Group event.”
