Official Opening Ceremony of 3G Pitch
On Thursday 3 September 2020, Haringey Sixth Form College unveiled their stunning new outdoor 3G pitch following extensive renovations made during the summer.
The opening ceremony was attended by Spurs and Argentinian world cup winner the legendary Osvaldo “Ossie” Ardiles and current first team player Harvey White, who cut the ribbon. Other attendees included members of the local community, business representatives and other College stakeholders.
Guests also were treated to a toured the College to view other stunning areas within the College. The College has invested over four million pounds in the last few years creating an iconic inspirational facility. Guests also enjoyed light refreshments and networking in The Hart & The Hive.
The 3G pitch is another of the many areas within the College to undergo major renovations - underlining the College ambition and value of achieving excellence in everything we do. The pitch allows to the College to provide even greater sports provision for all their students and is a part of a wider enrichment program that also includes music, performing arts, catering as well as drama and dance projects.
The new pitch will be used to improve physical and mental health of all students in the College including those studying ESOL, Entry and Foundation, A Level and BTEC courses.
Spurs legend Ossie said: “It is a privilege to be here opening this new football pitch just around the corner from our stadium.
“It makes me happy to know that it will help many local young people improve their football and lead healthy lives.”
Young midfielder Harvey added: “The students here are all my sort of age and I really enjoyed meeting them today – taking the first kick of the game was an added bonus!”
Haringey Sixth Form College are National Champions in Basketball with 7 students gained University scholarships through sport this summer, including three full Basketball scholarships in the USA.

New and upgraded facilities have a proven track record in increasing participation and performance be this in education or in this case sport.
