A Massive Thumbs Up! New Timetables Are Go... We Have Lift Off!
Haringey Sixth Form College’s new intake for September 2019 attended college this week for two activity-packed New Applicant Days on the 2nd and 4th of July 2019.
The New Applicant Days gave our new students the opportunity to meet our friendly staff and get to know their peers that they'll be studying with over the next two years. The days really do allow students to be ‘College Ready’ for the start of term.
Students get a real feel of that special, unique #H6Experience, with lesson taster sessions, enrichment activities, free lunch and so much more. By the time they leave at the end of the day they feel part of #TeamHaringey6.

Nayle, a new applicant who will study A-Level Biology, A-Level Chemistry and A-Level Psychology said "I really enjoyed all three of the courses I studied today and I'm really looking forward to coming back in September. I really liked the day because everyone was kind and supportive"
The days were real opportunities for students to get first-hand experience of what a great place Haringey Sixth Form College is to study in and achieve their goals.
Richmond, a new applicant said "I found the day very energetic, educational and eye-opening to different and new experiences. When I come in September, I plan to study A-Level Maths, A-Level Chemistry and A-Level Physics."
With enthusiasm, Demonte, a new applicant who will study A-Level Media, A-Level Biology and A-Level Chemistry said "At the end, the Principal said we will only be in for four days and that made me gassed (happy) because I can use that free day to sleep... I mean, sorry, not sleep, I will do some studying at home"
The days also enabled staff to communicate to students the latest news and updates on the college redevelopments. They saw first-hand, the work in progress around the college; new classrooms, new fitness suite, new lecture theatre, new catering and coffee areas - 'The Hart & The Hive', all complementing last years new build of the Innovation Centre, Student Common Room and H6@Connected facilities.
Russ Lawrance Principal & CEO commented, “We have had a great two days where students have had the chance to experience life as an H6 student for the day. New applicants have seen the developments going on at the college, and of course, they have received all the additional information they need such as how to apply for our travel bursary or what’s next in terms of enrolment.
The big headline news though was the new student timetables. From September 2019, students are in college four days a week, with the fifth day being a study day. This is a much more efficient use of time. No big gaps in the day, this is a modern approach for today’s students and it will enable students to get a really outstanding college/work/home life balance. The study days also enables the college to provide additional support, additional activities and more enriching experiences as appropriate."
Russ concluded, "I am delighted with the progress we have made at the college over the last three years. I constantly drive for improvements, year in year out at Haringey Sixth Form College and this for one reason only - To improve the student's #H6Experience. We run this college for the benefit of our students. It is a simple as that."

Jasbir, a BTEC applicant for Hospitality and Catering said, "Today was very important because I understood what I'm supposed to learn ad what I need to do in Septemeber."
Merilan, BTEC Health & Social Care applicant said "My time today was good, I really enjoyed it and I met new people. Having four days to study is good because I get an extra day in the week to do whatever I want."
