King's College London Partnership with H6
Students from Haringey Sixth Form College travelled to King's College London for their first session of the TASS potential project - TASS (Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme).
This Sport England funded project will gives a select number of students the opportunity to gain a valuable insight into participating in elite sport while studying at university. Students will attend a number of lectures and workshops at King's College around topics such as nutrition, psychology and wellbeing - all very important factors to consider when balancing elite sport and academic studies.
In addition, students will participate in a number of strength and conditioning sessions delivered by an expert from King's College, who will take them through a structured training programme designed to improve physical fitness.
Daniel Searle, Director of Sport, Science, Enterprise and Innovation at Haringey Sixth Form College commented, “This is a fantastic project. Working with King's College, a prestigious university, on the TASS project will empower our students to pursue their ambitions to continue to participate in elite sport whilst studying towards a degree. Students are looking forward to the programme, and have already commented on how motivating it is.”
Russ Lawrance, Principal & CEO at Haringey Sixth Form College said "We recognise the importance of collaborative working and always seek to develop it further for the benefit of our students. We regard our projects as partnerships. Therefore, working together with many partners, we have build a strong coalition of support.
We hope the TASS project, in partnership with King's College, will enhance the experience and aspirations for students of Haringey Sixth Form College in all aspects of their academic and personal life."
