Preparing Students for Life Beyond College with The Jack Petchey Spark Programme
Preparing students for life beyond college is key to enabling them to succeed and be successful. A cohort of first-year A-Level students got that opportunity this week at Haringey Sixth Form College through an initiative called The Jack Petchey Spark Programme, in partnership with BTS Spark. BTS Spark run recognised Leadership Development Programmes including one currently running for our college leaders.
On Wednesday 19th June 2019 students took part in a 1-day workshop. The initiative forms part of their study programme and will be followed by six modules which focus on the individual concepts of personal resourcefulness and agency in the Autumn Term.
Students will be required to complete a workbook log for the sessions.
"In the next academic year, we will continue our relentless focus on outstanding teaching and learning practice. The themes will be based on developing outstanding practitioners and independent learners. This programme links perfectly with the work that has been done by Russ with students around ‘Chimp Management’ and it will run through both the curriculum and pastoral structures.
To enhance practitioners’ experience and skill sets, we will be running a number of training and development opportunities in 2019/20 to ensure that everyone is ‘match fit’ and that teaching is consistently excellent across the college. You deserve to be the best, students deserve to have the best and so, we will be THE BEST." Lisa Westray, Deputy Principal Strategy & Performance at Haringey Sixth Form College.
