Haringey 6th Art Student paints Quentin Blake mural for children ward
Patron to North Middlesex Hospital, world-renowned children’s book illustrator and artist Quentin Blake, donated several illustrations to the Rainbow Ward, the children’s ward within North Mid. A student of St Francis de Sales RC Infant and Junior School in Haringey drew the outlines of the illustrations onto the walls.
After, Haringey Sixth Form College’s first year A Level Art student, Emile Wilson, brought the outlines to life with his vision of colour. Over a series of days spent painting during his holiday, Emile truly revealed the beauty of Quentin Blake’s work through the addition of vibrant, bright colours.
Now, when you walk into the Rainbow Room, you are simultaneously walking into the imaginative world of Blake and his cast of quirky characters thanks to the combined effort of some talented artists.
'Emile's art work at North Middlesex University Hospital's Paediatric Ward was truly amazing and inspirational for all who have seen the images. Emile is a very talented artist who worked with hospital and artist professionals extremely well. His images will be enjoyed by children and their families. I sincerely hope this talent continues to be used to help and make people who see it happy.
