March 23 marked a year since the UK had their first national lockdown.
This period of time gave students and teachers a lot of time to work on themselves whether it was learning a new skill or just committing to being active and taking advantage of going on local walks, exercise and discovering parks and trails on their doorstep.
Lisa Westray, Principal reflects on the past year and said “I am so proud of #TeamHaringey6 – we rose to the challenge, and as always, deftly switched to our carefully planned virtual teaching and learning! Despite its challenges it was an absolute pleasure to engage with our students online and get to know them in a way that is slightly different to that of a face to face meeting. I saw a quote recently that said ‘our task is not to bring order out of chaos, but to get work done in the midst of chaos’ – and I love this quote, because it’s is so true! Getting work done in challenging times can be a source of such massive reward – to be able to think ‘yes, I did that’ is worth so much more than at any other time. Like most mums I found home schooling very challenging but it reconfirmed how valuable our teachers are!
Here are some clips from our #TeamHaringey6 staff on what they discovered about themselves during lockdown and how they were able to take a moment to #reflect #connect and #support during that period.
