Grace Day Care Organisation Party
In December 2019, the Grace Day Organisation held their annual Christmas Party. Once again, the students from the Health and Social Care Department of Haringey Sixth Form College were asked to help out and deliver the singing concert to the service users. They have become known as young carers for the day under the supervision of the staff in the organisation and three of the teachers from the college.
The students worked to an exceptional standard, showing professionalism, integrity and kindness to the service users. This really held the belief that young people are interested in their communities and being part of helping out and supporting good causes. Below are some of the comments from the students.
Fatmata said, “Being a young carer for the day helped me to write my assignment 'Unit 28 - Caring for Older People'. It showed me how important it is to value the older members of our community and pay back what they have done for us."
Abigail and Monique said "This is the third year running that we have participated in the Christmas Party.,We have learnt so much about the care of the older generation and how we can meet their holistic needs. Studying Health and Social Care has helped to give us practical experiences."
“Thanks once again for bringing the students to sing for us at our Christmas meal. It was a lovely day and the clients and guests love having the young people as they light up the place!
The students were a lovely group that came this Christmas. Please pass on my thanks to them for singing and helping to serve at our Christmas meal”. - Director of Grace Day Organisation, Paula Yusuf.
