Freshers Fair - Getting the year off to a good start

We welcomed an enthusiastic and dedicated cohort into our Sixth Form this year. Students have been settling in well to their new lessons and getting to know both their teachers and fellow peers.

On Wednesday 18th September, we had our Freshers’ Fair; where students were given the chance to sign up for a range of extra-curricular activities and clubs as part of our H6 Experience programme. Provision ranged from Business Enterprise to money matters with Metro Bank, volunteering in the community with Haringey Food Bank and Bruce Grove Youth Space. The event was a great success and students were really engaged with the different stalls to find out which activity would suit them the best.

This event was organised by our newly appointed H6 Experience Coordinator, Franck Batimba - “I am really pleased with how well this event was supported by our Student Ambassadors and external organisations. So many of our students signed up for such a wide range of activities.”

The H6 Experience programme aims to encourage our students to get involved in activities that they can participate in outside of their main study programme such as sports, volunteering and short courses. We believe that Enrichment at H6 is an important part of our students experience with us; it will enable them to realise their potential in a variety of settings beyond the classroom, providing students with a host of transferable skills, which will bolster both employment and university applications.

It looks set to be an exciting year for Haringey Sixth Form College!

Russ Lawrance, Principal & CEO said, “Not only is the college is as an essential part of the education provision in London for young people but it has also has been recognised nationally for our H6 Experience (enrichment) programme. For example, we were awarded by the Sixth Form Colleges Association (SFCA) for Enterprise & Employability for our Haringey Unchained project, we run a National Art Show in conjunction with SFCA, Haringey Council and Alexandra Palace and we our H6 Basketball Academy team became National Champions 2018/19, to name but a few. I am really excited about what this year has in store!”
