'Bake it Better' Cake Sale
On May 21st , at Haringey Sixth Form College, the ESOL students organised and ran a fundraiser for Great Ormond Street hospital. The students made cakes, sold them to the other students and teachers, and raised a huge £231.22 for the hospital.
The ESOL students who participated in the sale are aged 15 and 16. They have all been in the UK for less than a year and come from a range of different countries. The sale was a great experience for them and helped them to look at different charities in the UK and different ways of fund-raising. They all said that it made them feel part of the community and they were proud to have raised so much money.
The sale was a great success and the students did a brilliant job of advertising the event, setting up the stall and selling the cakes. Everything was sold and we all had a fantastic time. Everybody who bought cakes really enjoyed trying traditional food from the students’ countries and were happy to contribute towards such a worthwhile cause.
A huge well done to all the students who were involved and thanks to everyone who supported the sale.
