City University Nursing and Midwifery Taster Week Health and Social Care Students
Niramon Klumya and Amanda Correia, from Level 3 Health and Social Care B90 group A have successfully secured themselves a place at City University taster week in July for Nursing and Midwifery.
Their sessions will be focused on Nursing, Midwifery, Applied Biological Science, Psychology and Speech and Language Therapy. As part of their experience they will treat mock patients, do nutrition exercises in labs, practice taking blood pressure as well as receiving extensive career advice including a one-to-one guidance interview, information about finding suitable work experience and a personal statement workshop.
They will also have to work in groups on a research task to develop some key skills which will support them at university.
This is a fantastic opportunity for both students. Niramon and Amanda are very excited about this taster week and are very much looking forward to getting some first-hand experience in this field as they wish to go on to have successful careers in nursing.
It will also give them the opportunity to put into practice some of the theory that they have learnt through studying Health and Social Care at Haringey Sixth Form College.
Principal Russ Lawrence commented, "Well done all this is a fantastic initiative, at Haringey Sixth Form College we firmly believe in a more student-led approach, we have a real emphasis on active student engagement. This enables greater focus fir students with a clear emphasis on future direction upon leaving college. Its exciting stuff for all concerned"
