Have you ever thought about what keeps our society in order? How we are protected against crime, and how we are entitled to certain rights?
If you are interested in the work of the Uniformed Public Services such as the Police force, The Fire and Rescue Service and the armed forces such as the British Army and the Royal Navy, you will enjoy studying Public Services. However, that’s not all! You will study various interesting topics; law, crime, media, war and conflict, fitness, leadership and teamwork and more.
What will I study?

• Citizenship, diversity and the Public Services.
What makes Public Services at #H6 different?
• It is predominantly assignment based.
• There are many trips and events, such as a residential trip to an adventure centre.
• There are work experience opportunities.
• You will get to attend a Crown Court and watch real cases
How will I be assessed?
After the delivery of each unit of the course, you will be issued with an assignment, which covers a pass, merit and distinction criteria.
BTEC Level 1
Assessments are carried out through assignments and coursework.
BTEC Level 2 & 3
Assessments are carried out through assignments, coursework and two externally marked exams.
BTEC Level 1
A few GCSE grades 2 or below. However, you will be required to have an appropriate level of English.
BTEC Level 2
Either - Three or more GCSE grades 3 or above. Or - Level 1 Diploma in a relevant subject.
BTEC Level 3
Either - Four GCSE grades 9-4, including a minimum grade 5 in English or Maths
Or - Level 2 Diploma at Merit or Distinction and a minimum GCSE grade 5 in English or Maths
You can go on to gain experience or employment in uniformed public services such as the Police force, The Fire and Rescue Service and the armed forces such as the British Army and the Royal Navy. However, as you will study modules within law, crime, media, war and conflict, fitness, leadership and teamwork and more, the progression choices are open.
