How do I #DiscoverTheDifference with Early Years Education?

The aim of this qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding of babies and young children from birth to 7 years of age. This qualification is ideal for learners looking to work with children between birth and 5 years, and gain knowledge of working with children up to 7 years.

What will I study?

• Key speakers from the NHS visit you
• You visit local community providers
• You have the opportunity to work with local community providers
• You will visit the theatre
• Promoting play in an Early Years Setting.
• Supporting the needs of babies and young children within local early years settings
• You will complete experience in a relevant early year’s environment to gain experience and apply your knowledge and skills.

What makes Early Years Education at #H6 different?

• There are a range of enrichment opportunities that are linked to your course including activities within the local community to support assignment work and careers.
• Key note speakers will include Early Years Educators and visits can take place to relevant childcare and early education settings.

How will I be assessed?

CACHE Level 2
Learners will complete at least 250 hours of work experience in a childcare setting to show competence in both knowledge and skills. Learners must achieve a total of 37 credits from all 14 mandatory units.
All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods.

CACHE Level 3
Learners will complete at least 750 hours of work experience in a childcare setting to show competence in both knowledge and skills. Learners must pass 15 mandatory units, including an Effective Practice Study and an Extended Assessment (externally set, externally marked).

Entry requirements

CACHE Level 2
Either - Three or more GCSE grades 3 or above. And/or - Level 1 Diploma in a relevant subject.

CACHE Level 3
Either - Four GCSE grades 9-4, including a minimum grade 4 in English or Maths.
And/or - Level 2 Diploma at Merit or Distinction and a minimum GCSE grade 4 in English or Maths.

Progression routes

This qualification comes with NCFE CACHE Level 3 certification. Upon achievement of this qualification learners will gain their license to practice and it is intended that learners will be able to enter the workforce as Early Years Educators. Learners can progress into varied job roles within early years and childcare settings such as:

• Assistant in Children’s Centres
• Practitioner in nurseries or schools
