Principal's Update - 11 May 2020
On Sunday 10th May, the Prime Minister announced a "conditional plan" to reopen society in England. He said a new Covid Alert System with five levels would govern how quickly lockdown restrictions could be eased. He hoped the next step "at the earliest by 1 June" would be for some primary pupils to return to school in England. There was no specific reference to colleges.
So there will be again many questions and many ifs.
I, as ever, aim to do all that I can do in order to give clarity to all members of #TeamHaringey6 regarding expectations of and for members of #TeamHaringey6.
So, students who are completing their qualifications this summer will already know that all colleges are working on the submission of grades, which will be submitted to the awarding bodies in line with processes.
Results will be announced on results day as planned, just like previous years. We will be holding a celebration event in December 2020.
All students progressing (staying at college next year) and either moving up a course level, for example level 2 to 3 or from year one to year two must be up to date with all course requirements by the end of the college year.
All students will either have a virtual meeting, phone conversation or a meeting in college with staff, as a minimum sign off. No student will be left without any contact or reassurance.
For now though, working remotely remains the norm.
I cannot give the absolute exact details to you as to what will happen from now until the end of term, as we know everything we do in society and college at this time is going to be driven by the science, the data and Public Health England.
But what I can give you is the reinforcement of clarity and expectations of you, our fantastic students, which will be supported by our equally amazing staff.
I will update as and when anything changes.
Thank you all #TeamHaringey6,
