January 2019 -
A new blog, for the New Year
As we roll into 2019, we at #TeamHaringey6 are all full of excitement for what this calendar year is going to bring.
Plenty of people kick start the New Year with resolutions. I am not really one of these! I feel I constantly challenge myself and people around me to set new targets and achieve challenges. I don’t wait for January to do that!
We are constantly aiming for excellence here all the time in everything we do!
This is a college I have grown passionate about since being appointed nearly three years ago now.
I love watching the College’s students and staff grow. It’s great seeing the students get equipped working with the staff gaining the skills they need to progress to a higher level of qualification, to progress to university or to find themselves a decent job and become productive members of our local communities.
Along with seeing countless students’ lives transformed, I’ve watched with delight as Haringey Sixth Form College has grown and continues to grow. The population has grown from just over 650 learners to over 1100, providing good quality education covering the whole of London and the surrounding areas. The campus has itself also grown as investments have been made in large capital projects. Lisa Westray our Vice Principal and Dave Wyatt Chair of Board cut the ribbon - the orange ribbon - to officially open the Innovation Centre just before Christmas. If you have not seen this transformational project, take a look via this link http://bit.ly/2TuE40Z
As someone who’s passionate about post 16 education and the very many lives Haringey Sixth Form College is able to touch, I am committed to making many more changes as we continue to grow and develop this amazing college.
As ever, I hope this monthly blog and our twitter feed will give you an insight into the developments, events and activities of the college, its staff and students throughout 2019.
I believe we have everything in place to ensure Haringey Sixth Form College, the staff and the students continue to flourish and continue the life-changing work the college is doing for our communities.
Please have a look at some of the recent news updates on the website.
The next series of events and information for prospective students appear at the bottom of this blog. The A-Level taster day is first up. Sign up via the link below - it's on Thursday 17th January.
For now, my very best wishes for a happy and prosperous New Year for everyone at #TeamHaringey6, as we build on the #H6Experience, remember #WeAreOrange #OrangeArmy.
