November – keep your fire burning!
Here we are, back for round 2 after a refreshing half term, looking forward to seeing what’s in store for us. We have so much AMAZING news from October, I don’t know where to start!
One of our many OUTSTANDING basketball academy students has been announced as the newest addition to the squad at PRINCETON in the USA – how fantastic is that?! A long standing dream of our Ndewedo Newbury has finally come true - just shows what you can achieve when you set your mind to it and dream big. As Nelson Mandela said “a winner is a dreamer who never gives up”.
Message from #TeamHaringey6 to #Princeton – You’re Welcome :)
We have already (it’s only November, remember) won AWARDS for the EXCEPTIONAL film made by our Media Students in partnership with Haringey Council – I’m Out premiered back in February and has been the talk of the town ever since – students were interviewed for TV and radio, we are producing the CELEBRITIES of the future here!
It was FABULOUS to confirm the membership of #TeamHaringey6 last month in the end of half term presentations - the sense of community we have here at the College and the feeling of belonging to something much bigger than just ourselves is second to none. I love walking into this College first thing in the morning and being greeted by the smiling faces of our team members - a true family.
The first Student Parliament of the year was the BEST I have ever attended, it’s easy to get confused between the staff and the students these days, they were all so PROFESSIONAL putting their considered points across and suggesting how we can make the College even better. Any employers looking for new staff would be falling over themselves to recruit these guys.
So, what now for November?! Who needs a firework display when you can see little fireworks sparking every day just by walking through our College?! By fireworks, I mean our students and the sparks can only be felt by being in the College – it’s in the air – so much ENERGY and FIRE in their bellies (and around their necks if you count the ORANGE lanyards!).
Parents’ Evening on Thursday, 19th November – really looking forward to catching up with our SUPPORTIVE parents - I never miss an opportunity to CONGRATULATE them for producing all of the WONDERFUL little human beings that are the students of Haringey 6th Form College!
