October – we’re coming to get you!
What an AMAZING start to the new academic year we have had - the month of September almost ran away from us with so much going on! Our fabulous students are now enjoying our newly expanded Innovation Centre, immersing themselves fully in the #H6 Experience; staff, students and visitors alike are inspired by all of our newly refurbished spaces; our sports students and Sports Academies are enjoying a kick-about on our brand new 3G multi-use pitch, and we have already had a visit from footballing legend, Ossie Ardiles, to officially open our 3G pitch!!
Our newly expanded curriculum is going down a storm – BTEC Music, Performing Arts and CACHE Childcare and Early Years have launched, and students are enjoying excellent lessons provided by our industry specialists who are bringing the courses to life with their current ‘on the job’ knowledge.
Freshers’ Week was sensational, students really engaged and signing up for all manner of extra-curricular activities – they particularly enjoyed the candy floss, popcorn, slushies and end of week barbeque!
The Student Union have been appointed to their new roles and have already had their first meeting with the Chief Exec. As you know, student voice is one of our biggest strengths and we love nothing more than receiving the feedback from our students on how we are doing and what we need to do to improve.
The Amazon Alexa has been very busy answering all manner of questions (and playing some ‘interesting’ tunes) through our new H6 Skill!
We have held our first New Parents and Carers’ welcome evening – it was lovely to meet so many of our students’ amazing parents and carers. I am so looking forward to working in partnership with them in supporting their children to be successful at this amazing college.
As always, lots being done and lots still to do. What will the month of October bring…???
Well, for a start, we have the end of our formal Student Induction when students become fully confirmed members of our #TeamHaringey6.
October is also the month of Black History and sees the start of our year-long commemoration, celebration of Black Past, Present and Future. Students will be looking at Racism in History through their PPD sessions, as well as having an opportunity to participate in a whole range of interesting and exciting activities to engage their minds and enrich their experience of our fantastic college.
We are already looking forward to next academic year, kicking off with our Open Evening on 14th October - Russ has already made a start on virtual and ‘in-person’ presentations to schools.
We just never stop! So, until next month… have a fabulous October
