Free School Meals Update - 23 April 2020
On the evening of Wednesday 22 April, the college finally received details from the company appointed by the Department for Education, detailing how to provide access of Free School Meals vouchers to our families who are entitled to the National Voucher Scheme.
I have instructed our Student Services to activate, process and distribute the information before the end of week Friday 24 April.
This means we will be able to issue the supermarket vouchers.
The system enables us to issue an ‘eCode’ by email to eligible families. The eCode is a 16-digit number with a value attached. For parents whose email addresses we hold on the college system, an eCode has been ordered and will be sent to your email address this week (please check your Junk/Spam folders if you do not receive the email).
The value of the voucher for one week is £15. Once we are clear that all email addresses are working properly, next week we will issue a voucher that is valid for the following 4 weeks.
For parent/carers who we do not hold a current email address, you will be contacted today by the college to request this, or you can email Jill.Lodge@haringey6.ac.uk directly. Please put Free School Meals in the subject line.
Parents/carers of eligible students can then go online to redeem the eCode against a choice of eGift cards (a digital gift card delivered via email) which currently includes the following food retailers:
- M&S food
If parents/carers do not have an email address, the college will select the eGift card on the family’s behalf, and this will be printed and posted to them. Or we can arrange for you to collect this from the college if easy and safe to do so.
