December – We made it!!!

#MoreThanACollege

November went by in a flash of fireworks - I can’t believe we are almost at the end of 2020!

Russ and I CELEBRATED Children in Need wearing ‘Pudsey’ onesies in College for the day – having decided that I was going to make the most of the ‘outfit’ and wear it coming INTO work, I hadn’t thought it might be possible to get a flat tyre on the way – so if you had any reports of seeing a Pudsey blowing up a tyre in the middle of a busy main road that Friday morning, it was probably me - lesson learnt for next year!

We changed the meaning of the traditional ‘Black Friday’ event….while most people were shopping for bargains, we used the day to showcase Black Solidarity with staff and students donning their finest black outfits. Thanks to our FABULOUS Student Union for organising this!

All students continue to have their learner experience enriched every day, but none more-so than our INCREDIBLE Criminology, Law and Psychology students who have had weekly virtual visits from all manner of legal professionals – Barristers, Paralegals and staff from the Youth Justice System, they were spoilt for choice!

Our virtual open evening on 25th November almost BROKE THE INTERNET with the amount of virtual visitors! Due to demand, we are following this with an in-person viewing event on Saturday 5th December – tell your friends!

Looking forward, I have to declare: I ABSOLUTELY LOVE DECEMBER because I love Christmas and December is the month where you can celebrate for the sake of celebrating and eat loads of chocolate just because it’s Christmas. And yes, as always, we will be PARTYING in style! We have our Student Achievement Awards to look forward to (although all of our students are OUTSTANDING – who will win?!) and the Staff Excellence Awards are coming up.

And so now we are heading for another new beginning in 2021……………………..

To kick start 2021, I want to invite all of our FANTASTIC students to join me for a regular ‘H6 Business Breakfast with the Principal’ event in the Hart and Hive. This will take place every WEDNESDAY morning from 8:30am, and will be a space for us to catch up and fuel up for the day the H6 way! All the most effective business people make time for breakfast to set them up for success, so let’s start our Wednesdays together, motivate one another and have a Breakfast for CHAMPIONS – because that’s what we are! #TeamHaringey6

I hope you all have an WONDERFUL Christmas break - EAT that chocolate, play that music LOUD and basically LIVE YOUR BEST LIFE (safely and appropriately socially distanced, obviously!).

I am already looking forward to eating breakfast with you in 2021!
