Chief Exec's Update - 3rd August 2020
It's August and for colleges, this means two things - results and enrolment.
For students, it's now all about what's next. All this has been even more challenging this year with the ongoing global pandemic. But I like a challenge and like, even more, succeeding with #TeamHaringey6.
Ongoing I am very confident. Why? Just look at how #TeamHaringey6 has already responded and I'm confident we'll continue to respond to this challenge.
I am not going to repeat information in this update, you can look back at previous updates and information on the website or social media.
We cannot predict the external situation, but as required we will react and adapt accordingly and what we will do now is act in the best interest of our students and our community.
Results day is happening, students have details and a choice and we will be in college celebrating and supporting them. We will not allow this situation to detract from their #H6Experience. We are also planning a celebration event in December 2020.
Progressing students received letters at the end of the last term with details for starting the new term. Students, keep a lookout for further information from curriculum teams.
New students enrol from 20th August 2020. You will receive detailed information on enrolment which includes a day and a time slot to enrol, which you must stick to. This is due to the vast numbers wanting places at our great college and the need to enrol safely. If you can’t make that slot, let us know or you might lose your valuable place.
Haringey Sixth Form students, indeed I believe all students need to be in colleges.
Let me be clear again, while online, remote or virtual learning has a place at Haringey Sixth Form College that is not to and cannot replace the #H6Experience, namely the outstanding facilities, new and upgraded again, the amazing staff, the fantastic timetable (minimal gaps and a study day). Look at the pictures of the latest facilities. We have also spent thousands on IT kit. We even have Amazon devices also around college!
By bringing students back into the building, this will give everyone confidence that we are #MoreThanACollege - we all work together safely and sensibly.
If the external situation changes, then, of course, we will change appropriately and yes virtual learning then becomes the backup. But for now, it supports the real deal, the amazing #H6Experience you all have pledged your support and allegiance to. You will rise to the challenge and you will really #DiscoverTheDifference.
I have not got a crystal ball. I cannot predict the future but like my team, I can give you an honest commitment to every single Haringey Sixth Form College student that together we will aim for excellence in everything we do.
For now, on behalf of myself Lisa, Jacqui and the team - stay safe, enjoy yourself and be good!
