Principal's Blog

April 2019 -

I know this won’t come as a surprise to anyone when I say I am writing the April blog full of enthusiasm and anticipation.

This really is the start of the big push, I am very excited and motivated this is a great time of year.

So what does Easter mean for you?

Chocolate for some perhaps, the clocks going forward and the longer daylight hours. Easter also has a religious significance for many.

For me with my Principal’s hat on this really is the real significant time when we do all we can collectively to ensure that every day students are revising for exams or putting the hard yards in for their BTEC assessments.

So put all this together, what does this mean? Well, there needs to be a significant period of sacrifice now, but there should also be planned elements of reward and recognition. This week I will be running my usual end of term Principal’s presentations and the focus will be on positivity and preparing mentally for the challenges that lie ahead.

All our students can be and will be successful. All students need a balance of work and social time to remain healthy both physically and mentally, to survive the pressures of the ‘exam season’.

The support from parents/carers & wards as well as from the staff here at Haringey Sixth Form College will help them through this arduous time.

My staff make sacrifices too, supporting and delivering extensive revision programme right over the Easter holidays, along with the detailed enrichment/support programme that takes place across the college.

I am sure, like myself, you appreciate the generous time that they are giving to ensure that every student can achieve beyond their potential.

The hard work now will be well worth it; the greater the challenge the greater the effort, that’s true but then also the greater the rewards. These rewards; high grades, will allow students to progress either here at college, into university or to employment.

I love our students, I love the college and we are all desperate for our students to be successful.

This time of year also coincides with the culmination of our recruitment for September. I do want to say I am truly humbled by the vast number of students who are now wanting a place for September. This includes new students and current students wanting to internally progress.

Thank you to each and everyone for putting your trust and faith in my team here at Haringey Sixth Form College.

I will be writing to you all soon to personally wish you all the best for the forthcoming examinations and I will give you information on your new students days planned for July. But if you have any questions in the meantime please contact the college.

Although the college is full for September, we know that not all students will take up the offer so we will be accepting late applications for any courses that are not oversubscribed.

Please keep in touch.

All the recent news updates are on the website and on our social media feeds.

As ever, very best wishes from everyone at #TeamHaringey6!

As we build on the #H6Experience, remember

#WeAreOrange #OrangeArmy

Kind regards,
Russ
