News / 8 November

Welcome back #TeamHaringey6 from your half-term break, we hope you enjoyed your time off and had a chance to reflect and revamp for the new week ahead.

We had GCSE resits this week and I could see that #H6 students were wearing to go all part of the #H6Experience

On Monday it started off with 2 members of the mental health team from North Middlesex Hospital came to speak to A Level Psychology students. The session was an informal discussion about mental health. It included discussions on topics around historical views and treatments of mental illness in comparison to 21st Century views and treatments.

The students benefited from being able to openly question and discuss mental health and how it affects them and will then be able to apply this to their exam unit. Students found the session highly engaging, commenting that it gave them an insight into their own mental health and how to have open and honest conversations with people if they felt they were struggling. #H6Experience

#TeamHaringey6 second year Level 3 sport students visited the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to assess the impact of London 2012 on wider society. #H6 Students gathered information from a number of the legacy venues on how they engage with the local community and how they have contributed to the regeneration of East London. Issues such as engagement in sport from girls, ethnic minorities and residents with a low socio-economic classification were discussed with sport providers, and how they overcome barriers to participation that exist within the local community.

#TeamHaringey6 also had trainee midwives from North Middlesex Hospital & Middlesex University to work with Health and Social Care students, giving them a presentation on pregnancy and delivering a baby, followed by a practical session on the delivery of a baby and after care. This was an amazing experience for the students. They enjoyed the sessions and were very much engaged whilst putting theory into practice. #DiscoverTheDifference
