Big Dance record breakers

Students from Haringey Sixth Form Centre became record breakers when they took part in the Big Dance choreographed dance in Trafalgar Square.

Big Dance 2008 is a week-long celebration of dance in all styles and forms aiming to get as many people dancing as possible.

In the grand finale for Big Dance week (5 – 13 July) which saw thousands of people taking part in dance events and performances across London and the UK - hundreds of dancers performed in The Big Dance in Trafalgar Square on Saturday.

The event broke the world record for the largest ever ‘remote’ dance. People of all ages and abilities took part in the one off event which was publicised online. Participants turned up on the day and performed the mass dance, which was choreographed by London based Aletta Colllins, unrehearsed. Haringey 6th form students were asked to take part after they performed at the open air arena around City hall for the opening day.
