Maths, Science, Sport and Leisure
The faculty offers vocational and academic courses which will enable you to gain the skills and qualifications you need to progress into Higher Education and careers in the most rewarding and competitive areas such as the medical professions, the financial sector and sports performance and coaching.
This faculty offers an exciting mix of academic and vocational options for students whose interests lie in the fields of mathematics, the sciences or sports. The A-level courses in Mathematics (including Further), Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Physical Education combine well with options from other faculties. Our BTEC programmes are offered at levels 2 and 3 in Sports Science and in Applied Science through to the full Extended Diploma (equivalent to 3 A-levels). These courses open up a wide range of progression opportunities into Higher Education or employment.

Teaching staff are all fully qualified and experienced in their specialist academic and employment areas and many also have examining board and curriculum development experience.

The faculty provides a supportive environment for you to work in, including our own specialist Study Centres.

Visits to scientific and sporting sites are a feature of our courses. All L3 BTEC students have one week’s work experience linked to their course and career goals.
