Our Very Own STEM Pioneer
Lanny Marie is a remarkable Year 1 A-Level Science student who had already achieved so much and continues to be a pioneer for STEM.
During the summer holiday she undertook the 4 week Nuffield Research Placement at Imperial College London researching breast cancer. She wrote a 20 page report on her investigation of protein-sterol treatment of resistant breast cancer cells, “Genome engineering using the CRISPR-CAS 9 system in breast cancer”. She was awarded Excellent in all categories of the feedback on her report and subsequently applied for the GOLD Crest Award. Her assessor said, “…this report is excellent. You have written clearly and in detail about a complex topic, and clearly enjoyed doing the research.”
She now runs the Crest Award enrichment activity. She has demonstrated true determination, resilience and leadership skills; attributes that we are very proud of.
A true STEM pioneer.
