LIFE AND LIVING SKILLS Entry Level 3 (OCR)

Our Entry Level 3 course is aimed at students with learning difficulties, disabilities and/or on the autistic spectrum aged 16-19 who wish to progress into mainstream courses at Level 1 and above.

Prospective candidates, should be working at or near Entry Level 3 for basic skills including communication, literacy and numeracy. The course has two pathways:

  • The first pathway is for learners who wish to pursue a career in catering or similar work. You will study kitchen safety, catering in a professional environment, maths and English. Students run their own social enterprise, serving and selling food to other students and staff at lunchtimes.
  • The second pathway is targeted towards learners who wish to study a more academic course at level one. With a greater emphasis on ICT, functional skills in English and maths, work experience opportunities and life skills.

You will:

Regardless of the pathway chosen, students will have an opportunity to develop their independent living skills and social development. In addition, they will participate in physical activities engagement with the local community through visits and outings.

Entry requirements:

Prospective candidates, should be working at or near Entry Level 3 for basic skills including communication, literacy and numeracy. You will need an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and priority is given to Year 11 students, based in Haringey, from our Special Schools Riverside, The Vale and Heartlands.

Where it leads:

At the end of your course, you may progress to a Level one mainstream course at the college, attend a Level one catering course elsewhere or attend another college to pursue other vocational courses.
