ESOL is English for Speakers of Other Languages.  You will be studying with people from a wide range of countries whose target is to become more communicative and confident in their English skills.

The ESOL Course is a full-time course, over 4 days.

We know that each student has different abilities. As well as your teachers, you will get support from personal tutors who will guide you through your course and help you with your progress.  Your lessons will be varied, and the teachers will use different methods to help you achieve your personal aims.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed through written examination for the following subjects:

ESOL Skills for Life Entry 1 to Level 2

Functional Skills Maths Entry 1 to Level 2 or GCSE Maths.

What activities can I get involved in?

You will benefit from learning in a small and supportive college, which concentrates on building relationships and creating a welcoming environment. You will be allocated a buddy who speaks your language to guide you through your new journey.

You will have access to careers advice, the college’s gym and weekly enrichment activities including: photography, film club, book club and sports teams to join.

You will also have the opportunity to gain work experience by doing a work placement during your course. You will be able to take part in educational trips to places of interest.

Where does it lead?

On completion, you will have the opportunity to progress to a series of level 1, 2 and 3 vocational courses and A Levels after successfully completing a Level 2 qualification.

Requirements

You have been in the UK for fewer than 3 years.

No formal qualifications required.
